SCÓR NA BPÁISTÍ COUNTY FINALS
This Saturday, April 29th, will be a special day for the national school children from around the county who have qualified for the County Finals of Scór na bPáistí, kindly sponsored by Lee Strand, which will be held in the Glenbeigh/Glencar Sports Hall.
Competitions will be commencing at 2:30pm sharp with the quiz getting underway at the earlier time of 11:30am in the Intermediate School, Killorglin (ISK), Eircode = V93 NV09.
Certainly since this popular competition, which was first introduced in 2004 at National School level, later to be ran by the Clubs and was the brainchild of the late Siobhan Cotter who was Secretary of Scór na nÓg in the County at the time, has gone from strength to strength and if previous Finals are anything to go by, the expected huge following are sure to have a marvellous days entertainment.
There will be medals for both winners and runners up; also the Siobhan Cotter Memorial Shield, which was introduced in 2008 by the Coiste Scór Chiarraí, will be on display and presented to the overall Club at the end of the competition.
A further presentation will also be made to the Club who has participated most in Scór discplines over the duration of competitions which takes in; Scór Sinsear, Scór na nÓg and Scór Na bPáistí and will be known as the Healy/O Connor Perpetual Cup.
The 11 disciplines to compete in are; (2 extra in Scór na bPáistí; Solo Music, Solo Dancing) Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Recitation, Ballad Group, Sean-Nós Dancing, Léiriú, Instrumental Music, Set Dancing and Quiz.
Once again, a reminder that the Quiz will have a starting time of 11:30am with all participants to be seated well in advance as doors close at 11am for the Quiz. All other disciplines will be getting underway at 2:30pm.
This competition comes to a conclusion at this stage.
