County champions, Dr Crokes, have informed the secretary of the Kerry County Committee that Johnny Buckley is to be their nominee to captain the Kerry Senior Football team in 2017.
The Killarney Coach Tour Operator made his Championship debut against Cork in 2012 and has made 20 championship appearances for his county. He recovered from injury that kept him side-lined for a lot of last season to lead his Club to a county title and recently crowned that achievement by captaining the black and amber side to All Ireland Club Final glory.
The nomination will be ratified at the next meeting of the Kerry County Committee.
Fionn Fitzgerald is vice captain for the year.
