East Kerry are County Champions!
Congratulations to East Kerry on a marvellous victory over Mid Kerry last Saturday night in the 2020 Garvey’s County Senior Football Championship Final. The Champions managed to retain the title for 2020 which was a difficult challenge considering all the changes for this year. Mid Kerry will learn a lot from this defeat, they are a very young and talented side and are led by a strong and ambitious management team. Their turn to take home the Bishop Moynihan is not too far away at all. The goal from the immense David Clifford in the second half was definitely the turning point of the game. From that moment on East Kerry dominated and this was reflected on the scoreboard. They are an amazing team and fully deserved their victory. Man of the Match was David Clifford and he was presented with a beautiful trophy and a Voucher for the Dingle Skellig Hotel all sponsored by the Garvey Group.

For this year, Bishop Moynihan will continue to reside in the East of the County! It’s all to play for again next year and we really saw this year how the gap is closing between the different sides in the Championship. Many other sides will fancy their chances next year. But for now the accolade of champions rightly and deservedly belongs with East Kerry.

Kerry GAA Golf Classic
In Kerry over the last number of years a Golf Classic before an All-Ireland Final in both Kerry & Dublin allowed supporters an opportunity to enjoy a great day out, support our teams and get access to those much in demand tickets for the big game. This year and with your continued support we are determined to keep the Green & Gold flying high and we have put together an event that will once again give you the opportunity to enjoy a great days golfing, support our Kerry teams and have access to those valuable tickets when our patrons can once again attend our games. We are of course aware that crowd restrictions attending games may well be a factor in the immediate future but we are happy that our ‘Flexible Ticket Package’ will meet the challenge. 2020 will see an exciting end to the sporting year for our supporters with six teams bidding for glory in their respective competitions. Kerry Senior Hurlers face in Antrim in League Final and then compete in the Joe McDonagh Cup, the Final, of which, will be the curtain raiser to the 2020 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final. Our U20 & Minor teams compete in the Munster Hurling Championship for the first time in a number of years.
On the football front our Seniors will complete the last two rounds on the Allianz League before facing Cork in the Munster Championship. While our U20s contest the S/Final of the All-Ireland Championship against Galway and our Minors play Cork in their first game in the Munster Championship. With that in mind we are delighted to announce that Kerry GAA will once again host a Golf Classic in Killarney Golf Club on Friday 2nd & 9th Oct 2020. We will confine the event to 50 teams in total over the two days and we hope to organise a similar event in Dublin at a date & venue to be confirmed. We ask you for your support and while a good day’s golf is a given, we also are very confident that you will find our ‘Flexible Ticket Package’ even more appealing.
Entry fee for Team of Four is €1200 which includes:
- Golf for four in O’Mahonys Point Golf Course, Killarney (Time Sheet Start will apply)
- Attractive selection of team and individual prizes.
- Par 3 Competition where teams will pitch their skills against past & present Kerry players
- Food after golf in the clubhouse (in conjunction with Health & Safety guidelines)

- The right to purchase two extra tickets for any:All-Ireland Final where the Kerry Senior Footballers are involved in or All-Ireland Final (Hurling or Football) or Munster Championship game

Hurling
Well done to the Under 14 hurlers of St. Brendan’s, Crotta O’Neill’s and Abbeydorney on winning Lee Strand Coiste na nÓg League titles last weekend. In Division 1 played Kilmoyley, St. Brendan’s had a 4 – 14 to 1 – 12 win over Ballyduff. In the Division 2 decider at
Ballyduff, Crotta defeated Kilmoyley by 3 – 12 to 1 – 11. The Division 3 final was played under lights at Abbeydorney on Friday and after a most exciting game the home side edged out Firies by 2 – 13 to 1 – 13. Well done to all the players, mentors and supporters who facilitated the running of these competitions over the past few months and in particular to the competition co-ordinator Liam Goggin (Causeway).
Junior
The Round 2 game in the Co. Junior Hurling Championship played at Duagh last Sunday ended level. Final score Duagh 3 – 11 St. Pat’s East Kerry 2 – 14. Round 3 will go ahead on this Sunday, 3 October when Duagh are at home to Ballyheigue, 2.30p.m.
North Kerry
The Final of the 2020 Rhyno Quality Feeds North Kerry Senior Hurling Championship [John Joe O’Sullivan Memorial Cup] is fixed for this weekend. It will be a repeat of the recent county final as Causeway has qualified to meet Kilmoyley in the decider. The North Kerry Senior Hurling Championship Final Causeway versus Kilmoyley goes ahead on this Sunday, 4 October at Abbeydorney, 3.00pm
Under 12

Inter county
The Kerry senior hurlers are at present preparing for their return to action. They will meet Antrim in the re-fixed Allianz Hurling League, Division 2A Final on Sunday, October 18 at Bord na Móna O’Connor Park, Tullamore at 1.30pm.
The Joe McDonagh Cup competition will commence on Sunday, October 25, they will play Meath at Austin Stack Park at 1.00pm in Round 1. On Saturday, 31 October they travel to meet Westmeath in Round 2 at 1.30pm in Cusack Park. Round 3 will be away to Antrim on Saturday, November 14 at Corrigan Park while Round 4 will be at home to Carlow at Austin Stack Park on Saturday, 21 November. The Joe McDonagh Cup Final is scheduled for Sunday, 13 December as a curtain raiser to the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final
