Update from Croke Park
At a virtual meeting of GAA county chairpersons held last Thursday online by the Uachtarán and Ard Stiúrthóir, counties were asked to double down on efforts to help the Association to play its part in the on-going fight against the Covid pandemic and in light of recent challenges nationally. Clubs were asked to adhere to the guidelines issued last week until such a time as further advice is made available from the government.
The Ard Stiúrthóir also informed county chairpersons of intentions to make centrally sourced borrowings available to county committees at the earliest opportunity to assist in the running of their activities before Government funding is made available. The GAA can also confirm that pending updated public health advice, and in light of increased optimism and appetite for inter-county games, plans to stage championships in the coming months remain strongly under consideration.

The attendance news last week has certainly been very disappointing for all GAA fans. Right from the beginning of the COVID Pandemic, our Kerry clubs, officers, players, parents and mentors have shown tremendous leadership, community spirit and dedication. This has enabled our fixture programme across all ages to be played and training sessions held in a monitored and controlled environment. We would ask absolutely everyone involved to continue to do everything in their power to abide by all health guidelines and recommendations over the coming weeks.
Where Juvenile games are concerned, it is vitally important to abide by the One Parent or Guardian only per child attendance rule ( and only if it is necessary from a welfare viewpoint). Once inside a ground, social distancing is paramount. Continuing adherence to guidelines means that the GAA family is doing its best to ensure matches and training continue and hopefully in front of attendances in due course.
