This heavy weight encounter between two teams that hold 51 County Senior Hurling titles between them did not disappoint.

Ballyduff captain Padraig Boyle and Kilmoyley captain Jordan Brick with referee Donnacha O’Callaghan.

Ballyduff and Kilmoyley went toe to toe in a pulsating semi-final at Austin Stack Park that required extra time to separate these two giants of Kerry Hurling.  It finished 4 – 25 (37) to 2 – 25 (31) after extra time.

Padraig Boyle in superb form hitting a whopping 2 – 12 (0 – 08f, 0 – 01 ’65), gives Kilmoyley’s James Godley the slip.

Blink and you’ll miss it! The crowd barely had time to settle into their seats when Padraig Boyle had already rattled the back of John B O’Halloran’s net. This was to set the tone for the evening in a high-paced free flowing game of end-to-end hurling.

Ronan Walsh, scorer of 0 – 15 (0 – 09f) for Kilmoyley, rises high.

Ballyduff only lead by 4 points as the teams came out for the second half, 2 – 10 (16) to 1 – 09 (12), despite having played with a stiff breeze in the first half. By the 49th minute the teams were level thanks to a Ronan Walsh point. Kilmoyley now had their tails up.

John B O’Halloran saves brilliantly from Padraig Boyle to keep Kilmoyley in the game

Padraig Boyle had other ideas and scored his second goal of the game. Tom Murnane replied in kind at the other end, and Kilmoyley pulled away again before Luke Rochford drew the teams level in the 65th minute finishing 3 – 18 (27) to 2 – 21 (27).

Luke Rochford (0 – 03) fires over for Ballyduff to help bring Ballyduff level and force extra time.

Anyone’s game now. Up steps Ballyduff Captain, Padraig Boyle, in extra with a further 0 – 04 points and a pass to set up a goal for his nephew Killian Boyle. Kilmoyley had run out of steam.

Ballyduff’s Paud Costello clears upfield under pressure from Maurice O’Connor.

Ballyduff now face Abbeydorney in the final as they go in search of their 26th title to bring them equal with Kilmoyley’s haul.
