Kerry 0-21

Carlow 0-21

Michael Leane’s last gasp point ensured Kerry earned a Joe McDonagh Cup draw against Carlow at Austin Stack Park.

A thrilling encounter unfolded at the Tralee venue as Kerry, who trailed by five points after 47 minutes fought back to level.

During that Kerry comeback mission Shane Conway was influential, while Podge Boyle also landed vital scores as the teams were deadlocked, 0-15 each, in the 54th minute.

Martin Kavanagh clipped a couple of points, while Jon Nolan subsequently steered Carlow three clear.

Once again Conway rifled over three points in a row to restore parity with six minutes remaining.

It was a gripping game with Kavanagh and Nolan edging Carlow in front before a Conway free reduced the deficit to the minimum.

Paudie O’Connor and Fiachra Fitzpatrick traded points as the drama continued.

In the closing stages, though, Leane struck the equaliser.

At half-time Carlow, prompted by the excellent Kavanagh, led by 0-11 to 0-7, but Kerry summoned a defiant response.
