Hurling
The big day for the Kerry senior hurlers comes around on this Sunday, 13 December when they take on Antrim in the Final of the Joe McDonagh Cup at Croke Park. The throw is at 1.00p.m.and it will be the curtain raiser to Limerick v Waterford senior decider. Both games will be televised live on RTE 2.
The competition, for Tier 2 hurling counties, is in its third year and is named after the former Galway inter county hurler Joe McDonagh, winner of an All-Ireland senior hurling medal in 1980 and who later served as Uachtarán of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael from 1997 – 2000. He died aged 62 in 2016. Carlow were the inaugural winners in 2018, followed by Laois in 2019.
Unfortunately once again under current Level 3 Government regulations both matches will be played behind closed doors but on a positive note all members of the extended panel and backroom team will be able to attend. It is a huge honour for a Kerry hurling team to share the national stage on All-Ireland Hurling Final day. Coiste na nÓg
The annual general meeting of Coiste na nÓg Ciarraí will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, 15 December 2020 at 7.30pm. It will review the underage activity for 2020 including hurling activity, when in light of the difficult year that it was, all county hurling competitions at Under 12, 14 and 16 levels were completed successfully.
