Kerry face Cork in Munster Minor Championship Semi-Final

As expected, Clare's victory over Waterford in last evening's Munster Minor Championship has paved the way for a winner takes all Munster Minor Championship Semi-Final meeting with Cork in Páirc Uí Rinn on Wednesday May 10th.

Kerry eased their way to the Semi-Final following a decisive victory (2-16 to 1-6) over Clare before an attendance of 2,567 at Tralee’s Austin Stack Park. There was never any likelihood that Clare would cause an upset at any stage, but the Kerry management will be far from happy with their side’s second half display when they shared the scoring with the Bannermen, squandering numerous scoring chances in the process. The team that did duty contained just four of the side who played in the All Ireland Minor Final last year – Michael Potts, Diarmuid O’Connor, Brian Friel and David Clifford - while the injured pair of Cian O’Callaghan and Cian Gammell along with Niall Donohue, Fiachra Clifford, Chris O’Donoghue and Ryan O’Neill were all part of the extended training panel last year.

Kerry Under 17 Footballers in action on May 2nd

Kerry Under 17 footballers, who are under the same management as the minors, begin their season with a home game in Austin Stack Park Tralee on Tuesday May 2nd against Tipperary. Should Kerry win that game they will face the winners of the other Semi-Final between Cork and Limerick and that would also be a home venue for Kerry.

The Under 17 competition of course is a competition designed to give inter-county competition to a group of players who would otherwise have missed out on inter-county activity due to the lowering of the Minor age group to 17 from 2018.
