Club Championships Update   18/04/2017

Castleisland Mart Club Championship Fixtures are made

Following Round 1 last weekend, the coming weekend will also see a big weekend of activity in the Castleisland Mart Club Championships. Fixtures for the various Championships were made by the CCC at their meeting on Monday evening. The majority of games are fixed for the coming weekend but there are games also pencilled in for the May Bank Holiday weekend for various reasons. Extra time applies in all Club Championship games and the draw for the semi finals will be made at the County Committee meeting on Monday next April 24th.

Senior Club Championship

Round 1 of the Senior Club Championship gets underway this coming Sunday (2:30)  with three games down for decision and the fourth, Rathmore V Kilcummin will be played on Wednesday 26th at the request of both clubs. All Ireland Club champions Dr Crokes take on old rivals Austin Stacks in the stand-out fixture of the weekend in Lewis Rd, a game that is going to attract a large crowd no doubt. Legion have home venue against Dingle and Kenmare Shamrocks make their senior debut when they travel to Strand Road to take on Kerins O’Rahilys. The remaining game, between Rathmore and Kilcummin on Wednesday of next week (7pm) is of course a local derby.

The senior club championships have of course taken on added importance in the last couple of years given that first round losers will be involved in the senior county championship relegation process and the draw for that will also be made at the county committee meeting on Monday night. Round 2 of the Senior Club Championship and Round 1 of the SFC Relegation playoffs will be played on the weekend of April 30th.

Intermediate Club Championship

There is just one game in the Intermediate Club Championship this weekend when two teams who had impressive first round victories go head to head in Glenflesk at 2:30pm. The home side did well to edge out Brosna by a point and visitors, Laune Rangers, threw League form on it’s head when securing an outstanding victory in round 1 away to Milltown-Castlemaine last weekend.

The last two All Ireland Junior Club championship winners, Templenoe and Glenbeigh-Glencar meet in Templenoe on Saturday week 29th, St Marys and Desmonds, two sides who had good away victories in Round 1 will meet on Sunday 30th in Cahersiveen (2:30pm) and on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm), An Ghaeltacht will have home advantage in Gallarus against Ardfert who defeated John Mitchels in Round 1 after extra time.

Junior Premier Club Championship

There are three games down for decision in the Junior Premier Club Championship  this weekend. On Saturday evening, Skellig Rangers play host to Listowel Emmets at 6:30pm while on Sunday there are two games down for decision. Dromid Pearses have Fossa as visitors and  Firies play host to Keel with both games throwing in at 2:30pm.

The remaining quarter final tie between Na Gaeil and Churchill will be played on Saturday 29th.

Junior Club Championship

There are two games down for decision this Sunday  in the Junior Championship when Listry entertain Tarbert and Lispole play host to Cordal with both games at 2:30pm. On Sunday week, Castlegregory have home venue against Duagh and on the Bank Holiday Monday, Tuosist will play Ballyduff.
