Intermediate Club Football Championship - Round 1

St. Mary’s Caherciveen  1 - 11


St Mary's Caherciveen visited Currow in The Intermediate championship on Sunday and ran out winners on a scoreline 1-11 to 11 points


Currow were far the better team in the first half and lead 0-6 to 0-3 at half time. John Buckley scored 3 points and there were further scores from John McMahon and frees from Mike McCarthy and Daniel O’Shea.  However despite having the lion’s share of possession Currow had far too many wides and the St Marys keeper also saved well From Daniel O’Shea. Bryan Sheehan scored one from play and one free for the visitors and Conor Quirke added their third point.


The second half produced the only goal of the game, a miss hit shot from Bryan Sheehan that just crossed over the line. This proved to be the decisive score of the game. Paul O’Donoghue came on at half time and added 2 points for St Marys, Daniel O’Shea added another point for the home side, John Buckley 2 and Mike McCarthy 2 frees completed Currow’s scoring on a disappointing day for the home club. Dan Daly and Denis Daly added late points for the visitors. 


St Marys were best served by Bryan Sheehan and Darren Casey while John O’Connor, Daniel O’Sullivan and Seamus Scanlon did everything in their power for the home team.
